Bishop Castle HOG ride 15 for 25 challenge ride
June 12 -16, 2025
This ride will take a total of 5 days. The total miles ridden will be approximately
1,360. Daily milage breaks down as:
Day one – 337
Day two – 257
Day three- 200
Day four – 260
Day five - 308 or ???
DAILY RECAPS:
Day one
Meet at Black Hills Harley Davidson departure time approximately 9:00am
Head South on Highway 79/385 to Highway 20 in Nebraska.
Stretch break at the gas station in Crawford, NE.
West to Lusk, WY for gas at Sinclair, and turn south on WY 270 towards
Guernsey
A lunch break in Guernsey at Crazy Tony’s (300 W Whalen).
Continue west on US 26 to I-25, south through Wheatland, WY to WY34.
Turn south on US 30 towards Laramie, WY
Destination Motel – Comfort Inn & Suites 1655 Centennial (307) 742-6665.
Dinner to be determined.
Day two
This will be a bit shorter milage day, but it will be all two lane roads in the
mountains down the spine of the Rockies. The scenery should be great.
Kickstands up at the motel 9:00am.
Head south on WY 230 until we enter Colorado, when the highway turns to CO
127.
Turn south on CO 125 through Walden, CO.
Turn onto CO 14 south until we hit US 40 into Kremmling, CO.
Time for a stretch break and gas at the Sinclair station on the West end of town.
We transition to CO 9 all the way to Silverthorne, CO where we will stop for lunch
at Chipotle Mexican Grill, 247 Rainbow Dr.
Onto I-70 West for a bit until we exit for CO 91 south. Transition to US24 just
before Leadville, CO. stay on US 24 until it changes to US 285 into Salida, CO.
Destination Motel – Comfort Inn 315 E Rainbow Blvd (719) 539-5000
If you are so inclined, bring swimwear as they have an indoor pool.
Dinner at the Boathouse Cantina 228 N. F. Street.
Day three
Today we are going to do a bit of sightseeing and exploring. A short milage day,
but things to see and do. No need to pack up as we will be returning to the motel at
the end of our ride.
Kickstands up 9:00am
Head out of town on US 50 until we turn south on CO 69.
At Westcliffe, CO we turn east on CO 96, at Mackenzie we turn south on CO 169
to Bishop Castle.
Time to explore and take our pictures for the 15 for 25 challenge.
Backtracking up CO 169 to Mackenzie we turn east om CO 96 until—
We turn on CO 67 just outside Wetmore.
A left turn in Florence, CO to CO 115 takes us to Canon City, CO, home of six
major prison complexes for the state of Colorado and the Colorado Prison
Museum at 201 N 1 st St. But first, time for lunch at El Caporal Family Mexican
Restaurant,1028 Main St.
Time for the museum: entry fee $7.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors.
After our tour, fully aware that crime doesn’t pay, we start back to Salida for the
evening. Highway 50 will be the route all the way.
Dinner this evening is within walking distance – Soulcraft Brewing 248 W
Rainbow Blvd. They are open until 8:00pm every day.
Day four
Kickstands up at 8:00am. A bit earlier start today.
We will be heading home taking the reverse route of what we took to get here.
North through Leadville, CO to the interstate and through Silverthorne.
This time we are going to have lunch at Moose Café 115 Park Ave in Kremmling.
They are only open til 2:00pm, so we don’t want to be late.
After lunch, a gas stop at the Sinclair on the west end of town.
North on US 40 through Walden and then into Laramie and the
Comfort Inn & Suites 1655 Centennial.
Dinner to determined.

Day five
Kickstands up ????
We all know how to get home from Laramie, but just in case you forgot.
North on US 30 to WY 34 to I-25. Get off at Wheatland and find WY 320 and
head north to US 26 through Guernsey. Then north on WY 270 to US 20 and into
Lusk for lunch at Subway and then fuel at the Sinclair Station.
North on US 85 to Mule creek Jct.
Now we have choices- east through Edgemont to Hot Springs and highway 79
home (boring!)
Or - East through Edgemont turn north to Pringle and Custer and home.
Or – North on 85 to Newcastle and east to Custer and home.
Or - North on 85 through Newcastle to Buckhorn, Lead, Deadwood, Etc.
Or – North on 85 through Newcastle to Sundance and home.
Closed Event: Chapter activities are conducted primarily for the benefit of H.O.G. Chapter members. Closed Events are those events open to Chapter members and one guest per member. Alcohol consumption before or during a motorcycling activity is not safe, responsible behavior. Black Hills Chapter #5357 does not allow the use of alcohol or drugs before or during a riding event* and does not furnish alcohol at Chapter rides. Riders whose skills are observed or suspected to be impaired by alcohol or drugs before riding cannot join the ride. Riders using alcohol or drugs while riding will be asked to leave the ride. It is the responsibility of each Template Chapter member to support the consistent enforcement of this policy
